A mixed bag of results for the Manor this past weekend, as the First XI crashed to defeat at Burnham after another substandard batting performance in which only Dave Huntley, Giles Harper and Dale Morris made solid contributions, whilst two wickets from Scott Morris were the sole high points of a futile defence. With temperatures still into the 80s, the Manor's Under 15s batted first in their crucial game against local rivals Ickenham but were shocked to find that early doors the ball was swinging round corne This summer Vodafone have put together an impressive line up of cricketing events and celebrations, including the chance to win npower Ashes tickets as part of the Vodafone Street Sixes. The Vodafone
At the Green there was a draw against Chalfont St Peter who made the best of winning the toss to tun up 228, limited by a brilliant bowling performance from Syed Hussain Shah who picked up 7-78 in 20 overs to turn the screws. Credit as well to Matt Read, who bowled nineteen back breaking overs in the heat and had numerous chances dropped and appeals spurned as he ran up 2-79. In response, Peter Lonsdale made a stroke filled 49 and Paul Everett 27 not out, but the rain came just as the chase was getting tight.
Not so the Thirds, who stormed to victory by half five at Chiswick & Latymer on the back of five wickets from Zeeshan Riaz and an unbeaten 91 from Harshan Suthar, who also amazed everyone at the club by paying his annual subs!

2009 is the 175th anniversary of cricket on Coney Green; why not read up on the history of the club, below? There are a lot of events to look forward to, with an expanded (and, it would seem, expanding) cricket week in late July, many touring sides visiting the club (including opposition from India, New Zealand and Belgium already confirmed!) and a club tour to Bournemouth between the 17th and 22nd of August.
HMCC is a progressive, friendly and welcoming club, free from the snobbery that affects so many so called bigger clubs, and continues to seek new members of all ages and standards to assist in its ascent. If you're interested in playing some cricket with us, are an umpire or scorer, or just fancy a social drink in our friendly bar, get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!
